Swiss provider of lifting solutions, played a crucial role in ensuring the event's smooth operation. Thanks to the collaboration with their French partner, Sonoss, more than 1,000 GIS electric chain hoists were installed across various competition venues, including the prestigious Centre Aquatique Olympique, where the diving events took place. This deployment underscores GIS AG's commitment to excellence and innovation in the field of lifting technology. GIS chain hoists are renowned for their reliability and precision, qualities that were on full display during the Olympic Games. However, their contribution to the event goes beyond the mere installation of equipment.
GIS AG introduced several technical enhancements to their products, reflecting their continuous effort to push the boundaries of what is possible in the industry. One of the key innovations highlighted by GIS AG is the use of external limit switches for precise leveling during group travel. These switches are crucial in ensuring that all chain hoists involved in a group operation stop at the same height, allowing for perfect horizontal alignment of trusses. This feature is particularly important in large-scale events like the Olympics, where precision and safety are paramount. The external limit switches are integrated into the wear plate, with snap-action switches that halt the lifting movement as the load hook or end stop approaches the defined end position. GIS AG emphasizes that this solution is recommended for stationary use, not for climbing hoist applications. The company has made these external limit switches available at additional costs, with specific components such as rubber buffers and limit stops tailored for different models, including the LPM250, LP500, LP1000, LP1600, and LP2500.
In another technical update, GIS AG announced a slight modification to the wear plates used in their LP and LPL chain hoists. Collaborating with chain manufacturer Pewag, the company introduced a small lowering in the cross-shaped chain inlet on the side of the chain bag. This adjustment helps position the chain links more effectively before they enter the chain guide, enhancing the overall performance and reliability of the hoists. This modification has been implemented in various chain hoist models and is a testament to GIS AG's commitment to continuous improvement.
In response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, GIS AG also addressed the geopolitical implications affecting their operations. The Swiss government has imposed a ban on the export and re-export of goods to Russia, a regulation that GIS AG is strictly adhering to. As a result, the company has updated its general sales conditions to include a chapter on the ban on re-export to Russia, ensuring compliance with Swiss law.
Finally, GIS AG provided an update on the current lead times for their chain hoists. Despite the challenges posed by the global supply chain disruptions, the company has managed to increase its production capacity, resulting in shorter delivery times for some of its products. The LPM250, for instance, now has an approximate lead time of 5 weeks, while other models like the LP500 and LP1000 have lead times of 7 and 6 weeks, respectively.
GIS AG’s involvement in the 2024 Olympic Games is a clear demonstration of their expertise and innovation in lifting solutions. As they continue to refine their products and adapt to global challenges, GIS AG remains a key player in the industry, setting new standards for performance and reliability.
